From Captain Payton

What a start to the week it has been! With the weather calming down at the end of last week, everyone got out there to fish in some nice warmer water. Spring is in the air, and the bite is on!

Mingo snapper & white snapper have continued to be hot over natural bottom reefs! Use a two hook rig with cut Boston mackerel to get some for dinner when you fish! We’ve also had some good luck with triggerfish, you just have to catch a couple hundred before you find a keeper in local waters!

Amberjack have been hot & heavy recently over some of the wrecks. We’re definitely getting fired up for the opening of that season in May 1st!

Cobia are being brought in daily now, with some of them being studs well over 30lbs. It’s that time of year again, and we hope it’s a great Cobia run! Time to start checking the beaches and having plenty of options to toss to those brown shadows.

The Spanish are everywhere in the bay, and we’re catching them on Spanish trees & gotcha plugs!

The king mackerel have started to show up, and it’s time to troll some crystal minnows or frozen cigars on king rigs over natural bottom!! Give it a try for a good fight and plenty of meat. Looking forward to seeing y’all out there!

Tight lines y’all!
