From Captain Payton

It sure has been some beautiful weather the last couple of weeks (finally) and we are taking full advantage of it! We’ve fished pretty much everyday for the last two weeks, and the bite has been great.

Lots of nice trigger fish still around, so get them while you can before the season closes on May 1st! The bigger ones have been swimming right up to the boat while we’re fishing a reef. Caught many keepers by sight casting cut bait to them.

Mingo & white snapper bite has been great as ever. We’re starting to see the average size down a bit on our main reefs, but still plenty of them around to catch!

Black snapper has been a big catch lately, there’s some massive ones lurking over recks and reefs right now. Try chumming them up and free lining to them if you see a big one.

Amberjack have been on fire, and we have some some really nice AJ’s brought back to the dock all month long. Live bait & jigging are the key!

Mahi have shown up occasionally on some weeds that have been pushing through the area. Most of the mahi are still pretty far out, but hopefully it’s a sign of more mahi to come!

King mackerel has slowed a bit, we expect the bite to pick up fast soon over many of the better trolling spots. Once the bite picks up, we will spend more time trolling for them and I’ll have a better report. Live bait seems to be key right now.

Gag grouper season is almost here! We have been catching some tanks out there on live bait. Super excited to get out there on June 1st and chase some big boys.

June is nearly FULL now yall, so if you’re looking to book a trip this summer don’t wait any longer! Head to the “book now” button and let’s go fishing.

Tight lines y’all!
