Holy cow what an opening week it has been!! A game of chess with these snapper some days, but we have been wearing them out with some awesome clients! Dead bait has been pretty useful with the looooong lines for the bait bait and catching live bait taking so long at the moment.
Mingos continue to bite well, we keep catching bull mingos while fishing for red snapper! Lots of big black snapper out there, we pulled one in on opening day north of 10lbs! (Chumming them up has been working well and is a lot of fun to catch on a free line).
Scamp and gag grouper have been biting pretty good! We’ve had a few keepers here and there this week while targeting red snapper. The bonus fish are always fun!
King bite is starting to pick up again (finally)! Live bait is the key on the king bite right now.
Little mahi are still scattered around out there close to shore. Try trolling some lures and checking every patch of weed you find out there for mahi! We’ve chummed some to the boat the last few days as well.
