From Captain Payton

The weather has finally calmed down some for us, as the cold front begins to push out. Strong winds and temps in the low 30’s made it a very cold one early in the week! But not to worry, we’ll be back to seeing sunny and 70 degrees again this weekend.

The mingo (vermillion snapper) bite has been quite consistent. Less pressure on them because of less fishing, and rough conditions this time of year have allowed for them to prosper recently.

There’s also plenty of nice big red snapper out there lurking. Since state waters have been closed since July, these guys have begun to get big. We can’t wait for this summers red snapper season!

Gag grouper went out of season with the new year, but summer will be here sooner than later!

That’s it for now folks, Happy New Year and Tight Lines!
